As we enter summer, a time to "vacation", I'm reminded how stressful a vacation can be. Travel requires constant communication, not only with our family, but especially with the Lord. The stress of planning, packing, travel, jam-packed days, constant eating out, and utter and complete exhaustion can really bring out the best and worst in us. If I'm not constantly checking in with God and making sure He's glorified and thanked, I'm a mess. A vacation of any type is a privilege. We don't deserve it. It just so happens that our Heavenly Daddy sometimes blesses us with such elaborate things. Whether a trip to New York City or simply time off work to catch our breath, we are blessed. How can we glorify Him during the chaos we call vacation? Invite GOD to plan your trips. Check in with Him daily, give thanks, pray as a family/couple before you start your day, and aim to do daily devos. Last summer, my husband, girls, and I went to Disneyland. My husband decided to do our daily devo in front of Sleeping Beauty's castle. He based it on Matthew 14:2: "In My Father's house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you." Well, you can imagine where it went from there! The awe on our girls' faces was priceless and unforgettable, as they were reminded that the castle had nothing on their future home with their Prince. It set the tone for the day. Allow God to be your travel agent for the ultimate vacation experience!
