Valentines Traditions

Feb 03, 2011 / Comments (0) / Written by Nichol Naranjo

I try to make Valentine's Day special not only for my husband, but also for my girls. I cook my family a Valentine's breakfast every year, complete with heart-shaped pancakes and strawberry milk or strawberry hot chocolate. I chose strawberry because it's fun to see some extra pink on the table. I deck out the dining table with decorations of pinks and reds. My girls love waking up to a decorated table! I also make various love themed signs with paper and markers and place them throughout the housejust to let them know they are special and loved. I place the signs in their rooms, their bathroom, down the staircase, in the kitchen, in the dining room, etcetera. We typically read a quick devotional on love and then tackle our day. This tradition doesn't cost a lot of money, but my girls look forward to it and talk about it all the time. I can't wait for this year because I plan to incorporate love based Scriptures on our signs throughout the house and to have a bird themed table this year (I have so many bird decorations and my girls love birds.) Using creativity with what you already have eliminates the need to buy anything new. So look through your house, closet, kids' room, and drawers, and have funit's never too late to start a new tradition in your family!
